Yuranigh was Major Thomas Mitchell's highly respected Aboriginal Guide on his 1846 exploration of New South Wales and Queensland.As a sign of respect he has a grave site marked with five carved tees - three of which are still alive.The headstone inscribed and paid for by Michell himself was replaced with a marble slab in 1900.
