The P.S. Emmylou Murray River Australia
The P.S. Emmylou is a Murray River paddlesteamer, driven by a completely restored 1906 steam engine, and built to the highest world classification standards. At the corner of Pall Mall and Williamson St is the Shamrock Hotel which dates from 1897. It is the third hotel on this site - the first dating from 1854. At four storeys high The Shamrock was completed at a cost of £25,000 and was designed to embrace all English and continental ideas in the construction of hotels. At the time it boasted every 'mod con' including a pneumatic lift, marble stairs, electric light and 100 rooms. Highlights are the ornate facade, the corner tower, the verandah and the mansard roofs.
