Forbes Courthouse
Forbes Courthouse Forbes Courthouse has architectural importance on account of its fine Victorian Free Classical styling. The building reflects Forbes' development from an 1860s gold town into a prosperous pastoral and agricultural centre later in the century. As well as this historical significance the courthouse also has social significance for its long association with the administration of justice in Forbes and district. The courthouse, erected in 1880, is an example of the type of building designed and built by the Public Works Department during this boom period of public building in New South Wales. It is also a good example of the work of Colonial Architect James Barnet. More Info
