Architecturally and stylistically, the Post Office is considered to be a leading example of James Barnet - New South Wales Colonial Architect’s larger post offices. The post office has subsequently remained at the centre of communications in Forbes for over a century, and is linked with the development of telegraph and telephone services to the region. The significant components of Forbes Post Office include the 1881 main building and clock tower. The two single storey red brick additions are of contributory significance..
