At four storeys high The Shamrock was completed at a cost of £25,000 and was designed to embrace all English and continental ideas in the construction of hotels. At the time it boasted every 'mod con' including a pneumatic lift, marble stairs, electric light and 100 rooms. Highlights are the ornate facade, the corner tower, the verandah and the mansard roofs.
