ANZ Bank building cira 1892
ANZ Bank building cira 1892 The Forbes branch of the ANZ Bank stands on the corner of Lachlan and Spring Streets (opposite the former CBC Bank which is also registered) and is an important element in the streetscape. Built in 1892, the bank helps to reflect Forbes' development as a thriving pastoral and agricultural centre during the latter part of the nineteenth century. Italianate in style, the asymmetrical bank is constructed of stuccoed brick. The building is double storey with square headed windows which have some sill emphasis. Clad with corrugated iron is the hipped roof, whose eaves are bracketted.

Forbes Courthouse
Forbes Courthouse Forbes Courthouse has architectural importance on account of its fine Victorian Free Classical styling. The building reflects Forbes' development from an 1860s gold town into a prosperous pastoral and agricultural centre later in the century. As well as this historical significance the courthouse also has social significance for its long association with the administration of justice in Forbes and district. The courthouse, erected in 1880, is an example of the type of building designed and built by the Public Works Department during this boom period of public building in New South Wales. It is also a good example of the work of Colonial Architect James Barnet.

Forbes Post Office (cira 1881)
Forbes Post Office (cira 1881) Forbes Post Office is one of the most spectacular of its type outside of Sydney. Architecturally and stylistically, the Post Office is considered to be a leading example of James Barnet - New South Wales Colonial Architect’s larger post offices. The post office has subsequently remained at the centre of communications in Forbes for over a century, and is linked with the development of telegraph and telephone services to the region. The significant components of Forbes Post Office include the 1881 main building and clock tower. The two single storey red brick additions are of contributory significance..
